COLOR ME IMPRESSED
So a few weeks back in this post, I mentionned that I had done something a little different with my hair. I'm not sure anyone could really tell, but I could and the hubby definitely could. I had colored my hair using the New Shea moisture color in Jet black. I have wanted to color my hair for such a long time but my fear of damaging my already so very naturally dry hair, made that out of the question. That is until I heard about Shea Moisture's product. I love their products and I felt if I was going to trust anyone with this it would be them. Surprisingly, this product wasn't available in any NYC Targets (don't know if that's changed), but was lucky to spot it at Target on my way back from NJ.
I don't normally do reviews (that should change) but I was quite excited about this whole thing (as seen on my Instagram feed), so let's take a look inside:
It comes with all these goodies. Products I already know and love, its supposed to be better for your hair as there's no ammonia or sulfates, certified Organic Natural. Still, its permanent color, so I don't think it's exactly the healthiest thing for your hair either.
Anyways, I know many people would ask "why black?" Your hair is already black. Actually its a very dark brown, lighter in the sun and I much prefer my hair jet black. I think it makes my hair look healthier.
The results:
I have to say, my hair felt soooo soft after the color. My hair came out great, I kept feeling it and loving it. I didn't want to rush into any reviews or grand conclusions cos I wanted to see how it would hold up.
First wash: quite a bit of color came out in the shower. Since going natural, my hair doesn't hold color, which is why I gave up on rinses and the like. I was surprised that a permanent hair dye would run, but run it did. I was so worried that by the time I was done I'd be back to square one. Thankfully that wasn't the case.
Second & third washes: there's still a little color coming off when I wash. I even tried Garnier's conditioner for color (that sucked). I have to admit it's definitely not as black as day 1, but it's still pretty solid. My hair feels a tad drier than before so I'm making an effort to condition more.
Anyhoo, I have 2 extra boxes of this stuff (both jet black) for anyone who wants to try them. Just enter using the raffecopter below. I'll select 2 names to mail them to. Heads up, one of the boxes was pre-opened by me, just so I could show you guys the pictures of what's in the box, but I promise you its perfectly perfect and you're getting everything. Well that was long and I'm out.
*Only using Rafflecopter for this one cos it makes it easier to pick randomly
