HAPPY MONDAY: DEKALB MARKET
Beautiful weather we had....beautiful verging on really HOT. I actually wanted to make a mad dash to the beach but that just didn't happen. What did happen was I managed to make a quick stop by Dekalb Market, a really cool outdoor concept for food, shopping, music and more. Located in Downtown Brooklyn, Dekalb Market is made up of salvaged shipping containers which vendors use much as they would a store space or stalls. It's really very fun to look at and creative. It also serves as an event/performance space. Rumor has it they will be moving in the fall and since I have no idea where that will be, I knew I had to make it there fast.
My favorite part: FOOD. I tried a Filipino dish of barbecue chicken over rice with a spicy garlic soy sauce. The chicken was extremely well seasoned. The hubby stuck with old faithful Lobster Mac & Cheese. And of course no meal is ever complete without dessert- Salted caramel ice-cream from DreamScoops.
Then, it was time to run home, get myself sorted for Monday and sit down to watch the Tape Delayed Closing Ceremonies of the 2012 Olympics...sniff sniff. Can't believe its over...thank goodness we have the Winter Olympics in 2 years to hold me over. Sidenote: Don't care what anyone says, I love me some Spice Girls, I'll be singing along as if it were 1996 (wow- that was 16 years ago).
I just noticed, I really like Blue and Yellow, maybe I was from Sweden or Barbados (their flag colors) in a previous life, probably more likely Bajan. Oh well, here's to a nice week.
