HAPPY MONDAY: PASTEL RAINBOW

I passed this corner every weekend and I never noticed. I never noticed the little green sign with the pig on it. Maybe it’s because it was mostly covered by the bushes, maybe because there was so much greenery. And just behind the path, behind the green, was more green and then flowers and every vegetable you could think of. And there they were, smiling, farming, so very inviting. They let us know we were welcome, that they had been there 6 plus years. That the little farm that started oh so small had grown and was even expanding. They offered us turnip greens and lettuce. I could spot the August eggplants out the corner of my eye and it hit me –  I should do this. I could do this. I could make weekends, a time outside- to learn about food, to have a better relationship and know more about what I ingest. Maybe all this time it was there, hidden inside me and I never knew, maybe just like my mum I had a love for gardening, for being outside. It must be- cos I couldn’t stop smiling.
