WEEKEND IN ASBURY PARK
I'm not quite sure what led me there, it was all very random. I had no plan for the weekend- I wanted to spend some time at home, in my apartment- doing the regular things you do when you have downtime. You know, clean, organize, clear out the fridge... (who am I kidding, more like watch tv and pass out on the couch). Then, we decided to take a drive, anywhere really- somewhere not too far, a litttle day trip. So towards Jersey we headed, and it was in the car, on the way there, that I found out Asbury Park and Asbury Park Beach.
2nd best beach in the country read the headlines from literally just a few days prior. It all made sense in that moment, let's go see what the buzz is about and just like that, gps rerouted and we were on our way.
At the edge of a historic and lovely neighborhood was the beach and boardwalk- I immediately knew I'd like it there. I have to say, I think Jersey gets a bad rap, maybe I'll blame Jersey Shore or a slew of other things, but this felt nice. Diverse groups at the beach, families, young people and older. The boardwalk was super clean, long stretch made for cycling and people watching and the restaurants and food offerings were nice as well.
I grabbed a healthy avocado sweet potato toast a High voltage and browsed the swimsuit store next door. I chatted with a few folks on the boardwalk and of course took plenty of pics. The one thing I didn't do was make it into the water- but I needed to save something for next time. Next time.
