STAY BANGKOK: ORIENTAL RESIDENCE
STAY: BANGKOK- ORIENTAL RESIDENCE, located in the heart of Bangkok’s embassy district and a short walk to the best shopping streets and complexes
LOCATION: Wireless Road is an area where many embassies are located which of course means that it has many expats as well as many services that expats seek. Not to fear, you’ll still get a real feel for Bangkok with many local restaurants, street level or high end available. The subway station (Phloen Chit BTS Station) located within walking distance was our preferred mode of transportation especially on humid days. The train was a few quick stops to some of the best shopping Bangkok has to offer. My faves included Siam Paragon and Central Embassy.
ROOMS: There are a variety of room options from the grande deluxe room (studio size) all the way up to 3 bedroom suites. Compared to many other rooms I have stayed at, the Grande Deluxe is actually sized very well with plenty of room for two. I would recommend if you check in late, to ask about a free upgrade.
PRICE: $$: Affordable by American/European standards but because hotels tend to be on the supremely more affordable side in Bangkok, I would say that the Oriental Residence is priced a little bit on the higher scale. However, you get so very much for what you pay.
FOOD: The Breakfast at Cafe Claire was an absolute win. So many options from a well stocked buffet spread offering both American, European and Thai specialties as well an A la carte option for more customized breakfast selections.
OVERALL: From the moment we walked in, staff were beyond hospitable, the lobby was welcoming and elegant. Rooms were well appointed, very clean and the bathroom was large and spacious. There was additionally a rooftop pool and restaurant, and a fitness centre I didn’t even get to try out.
And now for the best part: Pictures …
