WHY I TRAVEL NOIRE

One of the reasons social media is so great is that what once was unseen is now there for the world to see. As long as I can remember, myself and many others like myself have jumped on planes and flown across the country and around the world to experience all cultures, from those oh so similar to ours to those so completely different and far removed. But for some reason, I didn’t see or hear many of these stories.

I’ve always used any and all travel resources I can find, but there has always been a special place in my heart for all the travel writers and bloggers of color reminding me that I’m not alone, highlighting for me stories and experiences unique to the black traveler.

From the moment I saw what Travel Noire founder Zim Ugochukwu was doing with Travel Noire- I knew I had to be a part of it in some way. Fast forward a few years later and the platform is growing and doing better than ever. It’s so necessary to see these images, to hear these stories and to let the travel industry from hotels, to airlines and everything in between know that the black traveler is very real and cannot be ignored.
