There's so few brands that hold such a dear place in so many women's hearts, at least when it comes to bags, as a COACH bag.
This of course explains the rampant availability of fake coach bags online and on the streets. $20 I believe can buy you a quick fake in Chinatown- not speaking out of experience, but I do think that's what the lady was trying to tell me. Trouble with most fakes is that they arent very good. So what does someone with limited monies do, when they REALLY and I mean REALLY want a good Coach bag to add to their bag repertoire. You can troll vintage stores, eBay (authenticity can sometimes still be an issue here), some stores like Macy's sometimes have impressive discounts, there is the new lower priced line at Coach (not too fond of the quality though, u pay less, you get less) or hope someone in your family decides out of goodness of their heart to give you one. Well, besides all of the above, you can now add Etsy as a new resource. Now of course, for the most part, you will be dealing with vintage items- but the reason Coach bags costs as much as they do, is because they are made very well, made to last long, with really good leather. I believe you would think twice once you see what I found: almost all under $100.

SOME HISTORY: In the 1960s, Cahn did further research on leather and discovered a very complex method for processing leather to make it strong, soft, and durable. At the suggestion of his wife, a number of women's handbags were designed to be more affordable. In the early 1960s, handbags were added to the Coach lineup. Coach women's handbags were made out of sturdy cowhide, which was of much better quality than the thin leather pasted over cardboard material that was used to make other handbags at the time.
