When did you start selling on Etsy and Why Etsy?
Well, I set up the store name on May 2009. I actually didn’t start posting things to sell until almost a year later. It was around March 2010. My Aunt told me about Etsy. It was the first site I heard about that was specifically for handmade goods. At first I was only selling things I had made and I thought my things would be appreciated on Etsy…so I gave it a shot. Is this a full time gig for you?
I wish! But no at the time I also work a full time job.
How do you find the time to do everything?
Time management is the one thing I stress over daily. There are never enough hours in the day! I have a two year old son that keeps me busy. When I pick him up from school I make sure I give him 100%. I do not pull out my laptop during dinner or before he goes to bed. I find myself trying to balance being a great mother with everything else coming second. Before I had my son I sewed/designed clothes a whole lot and sold to boutiques in the Atlanta area. After he was born I would beat myself up thinking about the time I no longer had to do what I loved to do. Sewing and Designing can be very time consuming and then you have to put a higher price tag on things to get paid for your time and ideas and in the end there’s no guarantee that it will sell. I simply do not have much time to spend sewing anymore. I did however, have time to shop on my lunch break at work. So, I started finding more and more vintage clothes and got the bright idea to start selling them. It became my outlet to still do what I love...within crunch time.

Your personal fav item in your shop right now:
I love almost everything in my store…my items are like my babies...and when I sell something I always think I sold it for to little. I wish I could duplicate them all before shipping them. If I had to pick one it would be the leather fringe shorts with gold beads! I think they are Absolutely Awesome!! What was first item you ever made/sold?
The first item I ever made/sold was a line of hand dyed tank tops to a boutique called Envy here in Atlanta. It was back in 2002. After that I had a really successful swimsuit line. On Etsy the first item I sold was a vintage Ralph Lauren Blazer.
What are your plans for the future?
For my business: to continue doing what I’m doing…but full time. I would love to focus on my business full time. Eventually, when the economy improves a little I would like to have a brick and motor store. I would imagine one day I will have time again to design and sew a full line. Do you have a workspace? If so, can you share what it looks like?
Yes I have a workspace…OMG…It’s a zoo honestly. I have clothes on several racks, Shoes in a designated location. Hats, belts, and do dads running a muck. Sewing Table set up with projects lined up on the side of the table. I have a scale, printer/scanner, paper, envelopes, ribbon, and other packing supplies in one area. You have no idea. If I get brave enough I will send you pictures. I’ll have to take the pic and see how I can crop it to look fabulous. (no need to put her through all that).
