My PHILOSOPHY on spending
I've learned through way too many years spent as a student, to make the most out of a little. That's probably why I have logged so many hours on the internet, searching for every last deal, coupon, promo, sale etc. I like nice things, I like having nice things, but I have a personal limit in my head about what I'm willing to do for a nice thing. I believe its different for everyone.
What has worked for me is setting the balance between wants and needs. I allow myself both, cos to be honest how many needs do we really want. I need a metrocard every month to get back and forth, but if I had a choice I wouldnt want it. I'd rather spend the $89 $104 on something else like a new bag, red velvet cupcakes, bigelow lemon body cream, a bag of dumplings from chinatown, another pair of converse, earrings, a snuggie... no seriously $104 is alot of money.
It may seem hard to reconcile a blog dedicated somewhat to the art of shopping, to talk about restraint in shopping. I discovered very recently that I can only truly enjoy a purchase, if I am in the right position to buy it. Meaning, I have Paid, Saved, Shared, then I can spend happy.
Paid- all the bills, all the student loans, all the necessities
Saved- paid myself, put something aside in the bank
Shared- helped family friends, and if you're especially generous even strangers in need
and then the balance can happily, joyfully be spent on the now. Cos as they say, u have only one life, you wanna live it well, enjoy the things you own, the way u dress, the home you keep, the food you eat, the places you go etc etc etc
Yeah- talking about goin'. Gotta run I got "Glee" and "The Good wife" to attend to. But I'll be right back with some of my new fav finds and some new pics.
