NOW EATING: GLADY'S BROOKLYN
My POV at Glady's - from my
I hate to make promises about what I will or will not do cos as we all know in life, things (to put it nicely) happen. But I would like to share some of my fave food spots like I used to in the past. On that note, there's a few things I look for when I'm going out to grab a bite. Good food of course stands above the rest but the level of service, ambiance, decor and the crowd can make or break a place.
If you're in the Brooklyn area and just feening some Caribbean that also hits it on the head in all the other areas, check out Glady's. I have to say I was a bit skeptical at first, I wasn't certain if they would be authentic enough for me especially when I spotted bok choy on the menu- I mean, BOK CHOY.
By the time the hubby made it through his curry goat and I scarfed down my last bit of jerk pork, we were already making plans for our next visit and what we would try. To be quite honest, if someone doesn't make it home for dinner sometime this week, I fear, I know just where they detoured.
Anyways, I don't want to heap on so many praises that you end up underwhelmed. So let me bring it back to earth for a second. This is simple, straightforward food done right, very well seasoned with ginger and garlic, when you can smell peppers coming from the open air kitchen- full disclosure there was a small moment there I was a little concerned by the smoky spicy jerk in the air- the kind that makes your throat itch just a little. Long story short, check Glady's out if you can and leave your recommendation for good Caribbean, doesn't have to be NYC.
