Peek into my space
Sometimes because you live in a rental, you decide not to invest too much time or money into a space that really isn't yours. Since for the most part I'm a homebody, I had to find little tricks to make the most of my NYC cube rental without shelling beaucoup bucks. After-all, this is temporary.
First and most useful resource- Craigslist
70% of our apartment was furnished with used furniture from Craigslist and we saved so much.
West elm Moroccan side stools, got the pair for $50 and they were still in their boxes, owner was in hurry to move.
West elm dining table with T chairs- Got the table and 3 dining chairs for $125, savings $375
West elm parsons desk normally $349, paid $120
CB2 acrylic coffee table: paid $100, normally $279.
I could go on and on.
I only purchase used items that can be wiped down clean.
So tables, chairs, desks, frames etc, never pillows, couches or anything with fabric.
I get pillowcases from Etsy of course and switch them out quite often when in the mood for a change.
I do also visit the clearance or As is section of Ikea, West elm etc,
so I got over 50% off the armchair you see there, by grabbing it from the As Is section.
And at West Elm, I got the cada table lamp 40% off by purchasing floor model.
If you notice blue tape on the legs of the gold chairs, it's because they were originally blue and I spray painted them gold. I didn't take tape off yet, because I want to add a layer of sealant.
Who knows when that will happen.
Really liked the way the stencil job came out. Might switch up the colors and design as its not an especially difficult project and really adds a lot of POW.
There's still so much I don't like and want to change.
I'll update you guys if I make those changes- hopefully by Summertime.
Anyhoo- more of a peek below.
