WHAT ARE YOU LISTENING TO?
Well the answer to that is alot of really good stuff. Wow, there were so many amazing suggestions, it took me longer than expected to check them all out. Highlights for me included Emily King, the Love Bellow, Raleigh Ritchie, Basia Bulat, Sam Smith, Robert Glasper, to name but a few. I actually recommend that if you have a moment, just check out the comments on the original post for more good music.
Honorable mentions go to:
Concha Buika recommended by Arielle A. This isn't a new track but I wanted to shoot myself for never having heard of Concha Buika. I don't understand what she's saying but it's the kind of music you just feel and I can't stop listening. I Lurve her voice.
Mafikizolo recommended by Viola Vemma. This song and the accompanying video is beyond fierce. I wanna live in one of the painted houses in the video and I want a painted car too. It just makes you want to dance with it's energy. This South African group is doing the thing...Afro-Pop at its finest. The female vocalist, Nhanhla's voice is also quite powerful and reminds me of Angelique Kidjo.
Then there was Kwabs. Recommended by not 1, not 2, but 3 readers and once you listen to this guy, you'll understand why. Since there can only be one winner, I have to give credit to the person who first mentionned Kwabs and that's Mutsa Marau. I'll be sending you an email on how to claim your prize. Thanks all, this was a lot of fun. I'll leave you with some Kwabs.
