What New Year's Resolution?

New Years resolutions have gotten such a bad rep.  I guess its because most people can barely hang on to theirs for the first 5 days of the year.  Lately when I've asked someone about whether they made or have a resolution, they all respond that it's pointless.
I decided to share what I would be working on this year.  I'm hoping that I'll feel some additional pressure knowing that I have announced on here to all what I intend to accomplish- this post will serve to provide some sort of accountability.

First: Call my family more and I mean alot more. Between my mum, siblings, aunts and all the people I love to pieces, I mut owe over 60,000 hours of talk time.  Unfortunately for me, I have a horrible relationship with the phone.  Text messages and emails will not count.

Second: Eat more fruits and veggies.  No dieting or anything like that, but definitely making positive changes in what I ingest.  I am such a picky eater when it comes to fruits and veggies, even though I can scarf down any meat, cream or cheese product you give me.  I'm gonna work hard to keep my veggies as raw as possible because for some reason in the past I have cooked my carrots and broccoli until everything good is gone and then slathered them with extra butter, cos butter makes everything better- a la Paula Deen.
QUESTION: Does the popcorn I'm currently snacking on count as some kinda veggie?

Third: Drive and Ride more. Have to admit, I am a sucky driver, mainly because living in NYC I didn't get my license until most recently.  After so many years of getting around solely by subway, I really want to become a better driver and can only do that by driving more, even though NYC drivers scare me- yikes.  And on the other side of coin, finally decided its OK to shove hubby's bike in bedroom or anywhere it would fit.  I finally got one this past summer and plan on making the most of it once we get better weather.  Oh boy.

Fourth: Travel more this year.  After wedding and honeymoon in 2009, there wasn't time or moolah for much of anything in 2010.  So in 2011,  the hubby and I wanna see a bit more of the world and make the most of it while we can.

Fifth: Only buy what I need and what I love.  I hate going through my stuff and finding so many things I don't care about, don't know why I bought or only got because they were cheap or on sale.  This year, everything I get has to be special (to me) and considering that I really want to travel (which can be costly), I really have to be selective about my purchases.

Sixth: Continue to blog- I am getting better at time management and figuring out what I want blog to be about.  It's definitely still a learning process and it has its moments. Moments when I'm tired, and moments where I worry about how it's received.  But I really enjoy having this new process in my life and I hope I can continue.

Here we go...
