STAY ANGUILLA: AURORA

So let’s get the first question out of the way- Should you visit Anguilla ? And my response is a very enthusiastic, yes. This is our 3rd time visiting and we always leave wanting more. Is it the charm and warmth of a very small island? Yes, there’s that. Is it because Anguilla has some of the best beaches and water in the world? Yes, there’s definitely that too. Is it because there are beautiful places to stay at? Absolutely, with Aurora Anguilla leading the charge when it comes to having it all. Is it because Anguilla was ranked the #1 Caribbean island in the world by Travel & Leisure in 2023? As you can see the list keeps on going. And just when you thought you had more than enough reasons to visit, Aurora Anguilla is bringing you the all new, Aurora Entertainment park with loads of fun for kids and grownups alike.

First, let’s talk about the hotel for a little bit and why it gets my vote for your stay.

Service - possibly couldn’t be a nicer team, at every level, from the moment you get to the island. It is truly the essence of having a no-stress, laid back and relaxing getaway, when you get to experience the kind of service that they provide. The perfect balance of warmth, professionalism and overall great energy.

Rooms & Grounds: What can I say? It’s so beautiful, so clean, and so picture perfect here. The attention to detail is evident from reception, to the well maintained and manicured lawns, to the pools, children’s play areas and of course to the rooms. There are two wings, the Merrywing Beach side and The Rendezvous beach side. If you’re looking for more intimacy, expansive suites, stylish decor and being closer to the waterfront, then I recommend Rendezvous.

If you’re looking for luxurious rooms in a modern setting that are not only steps from the beach, but much closer to family friendly features such as the family pool and the aforementioned Aurora Entertainment park then this may be the right one for you. Also note that the Merrywing tends to offer more deals for families, so you might also get more bang for your buck.

The Entertainment Park

I think what stood out to me besides the fact that they thought of everything and put together a super spotless, and well designed park, was that it felt like a place that everyone from little kids, to teens to adults would want to be at all day. While the waterpark in and of itself is a lot of fun, there is so much more to do. Everything from tennis and pickleball, basketball and mini-golf, a climbing wall, a teen center as well as a kid’s club. There’s an extensive food menu and a fun food truck on site as well. As parents, you can even drop your kids off at kid’s club while you take a dip yourself in the lazy river or bring them along, whatever floats your float.

Babysitting/childcare service is also available. While we were there and since my toddlers are not 4 yet, we had a nanny watch them when we needed a moment and that was a blessing to get a little grown-up time.

Dining:

There are 6 different dining options at the resort and each one is distinctly different which was really exciting for the food lover in me. While I enjoyed traveling the world in the different cuisines offered (Italian, Asian, Caribbean, Steakhouse), I was even more impressed when I toured their 10,000 sq foot hydroponic gardens, which provides the hotel’s chefs and kitchens with fresh fruits, produce and herbs daily. It was so nice to see how all the delicious food was grown, that it was as local as local can get and it was super fresh. Quick tip: don’t sleep on the salads here and Chef’s Table and Tokyo Bay were the standouts for me, so don’t skip those neither. Actually, try them all, so you can find which one is your favorite. All-in all, if you’re looking for a great getaway to relax and have fun in the best possible way, in the best possible place then you may want to try Anguilla- Aurora style.
